Any business producing, carrying, keeping, treating, or disposing of waste in the UK will be required to use the new digital system. This replaces the traditional paper-based Waste Transfer Notes (WTNs) and Hazardous Waste Consignment Notes (HWCNs).
The Defra mandates are scheduled to take effect in April 2026. From this date, all qualifying waste movements must be digitally recorded in real-time. Early adoption and testing are highly recommended to ensure your operations aren't disrupted.
